On Thursday, Nov 4, the monthly environmental lecture at the library was about the impact of honey bees on mankind. Dr. Leo Gosser, President of the Broward Beekeepers Association and John Herring, Vice President of the BBA gave an informative presentation covering the history between honeybees and man, the importance of the honey bee, its biology and life cycle, and the uncertain future of commercial beekeeping due to CCD. Those in attendance were introduced to some of the equipment used in beekeeping, and the lecturers dispelled some of the myths surrounding these beneficial insects.
