A moveable feast

On Sunday, January 3, 2010, the Royal Palm Isles Neighborhood Group held a Blues Brunch event at Royal Palm Park. Dozens of neighbors started the new year on a nippy day to socialize, share pot luck offerings, play games, and enjoy live music. Young and old alike found something to enjoy, whether it was tossing horse shoes or listening to the blues stylings of Poppa E. An Oakland Park Fire Rescue truck was on hand, and Mayor Steve Arnst joined the festivities to draw the winning raffle tickets. Even Floyd and Flo Flamingo were there, joined by the rest of the flock. The event was well-organized by active residents, and hopefully the idea will spread around the city.

  1. Home Is Where The Heart Is.

The Royal Palm Isles neighborhood is one of Oakland Park’s best-kept secrets, an enclave of fourteen streets with three hundred and twenty seven homes. Our most tenured neighbor, Annie, has lived here since 1963. Our newest neighbors, Shaun & Shannon, just purchased their home. Whether you have lived in RPI for some time or you are new to the area, you will find that we have a great variety of personalities in our neighborhood! We have BSO neighbors, a retired Oakland Park Fire Battalion Chief, a taxidermist, insurance agents, school teachers, Kiwanis members, artists, web designers, small business owners, realtors, nurses and interior designers, just to name a few. Our dog walkers and our joggers are the eyes on our streets and are some of the friendliest folks in Oakland Park!
